The Consortium The Region The Producers The Wine Links Exchange Where we are Home Page E-mail		The Wine The Presidential Decree dated 13 January 1972 recognised the "Colli del Trasimeno" DOC and approved the annexed set of rules; these regulations were modified in 1982 and subsequently in 1990. The Decree dated 7 January 1998 further modified this set of rules: as a consequence, the traditional denomination "Colli del Trasimeno" was changed into "Colli del Trasimeno" or "Trasimeno". The new regulations guide-lines lead towards the vine-production quality by planting a high number of vines per hectare and producing low quantities of grapes per species.
	Vines forming the main red wines are: Sangiovese Ciliegiolo Gamay Merlot Cabernet Sauvignon The Grechetto is one of the most important white wines. Wine-making, ageing and bottling have to be carried on in the production zone: however those factories situated in the province of Perugia bottling wine before the application of the new set of rules (published on the Italian "Gazzetta Ufficiale") can still carry on this activity. Some geographical information (zones and towns of origin) can be written on the bottle labels.
